#37- What was it like to have babies during covid? The calling of Motherhood no matter what is happening in the world. with- Victoria Mendez, Alethea Peister & Anastacia Dalsimer

The tale of 3 Mommas birthing Babies in an uncertain world
what was it like for Alethea
Alethea got pregnant in December of 2019, she would have never thought the world was going to turn upside down. Yet it would not have derailed her from her call to motherhood. At first she kept the hope that it was just going to be two weeks…. then it wasn’t. She had to prepare for having a baby right in the middle of a world having been flipped upside down.
Her biggest concern was what could happen at the hospital, she had heard rumors that if she tested positive that she wouldn’t get to see or hold her baby or husband for two weeks, what a terrifying thought.
Aly also shares with us the birth story of her first son, Duke and how it compared to the birth of her second son Leif, who was born in September of 2020. She was confident that God would guide her and her husband in raising children in a very different world than she got pregnant in.
Here is Aly’s favorite scripture and my favorite thing she said on the Podcast.
Teach your children to love the law of God .Choose to speak well of them, and surround yourself with other like minded Moms-
Alethea
But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; of such is the kingdom of God.
Luke 18:16
what was it like for Victoria
While Aly got pregnant before the vid and the social unrest, Victoria got pregnant in June of 2020. Her and her hubby had been married for 5 years, and they were planning to go to Europe to celebrate before trying to get pregnant. Like so many their plans for a trip abroad were canceled, though they didn’t let it stop them from their plan to have a baby!
Tori wondered if her child would ever get the chance to go to Disneyland or play in the front yard. God had placed the desire to be a Momma in her heart early in life, she wasn’t about to let the unknowns stop her.
Tori shares her birth story which started at a Midwife center and ended with a C-section at the hospital a grueling 3 days later in March of 2021
Her heart is to daily pray the full armor of God over my sweet little nephew Connor and prepare him to be a warrior for the Kingdom of God!
Here is Tori’s favorite scripture and my favorite thing she said on the Podcast.
I want my son to know truth, know God’s Word, in this world that is constantly making light of evil.
Victoria
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
what was it like for Anastacia
Ana’s little girl Cosette was born a couple days before Tori’s son. She talked about how during her pregnancy getting caught up in conspiracy theories and news of evil things happening in the world started to overwhelm her. God reminded her to think on what was good true and lovely, she continues to practice this today.
She shares her birth story which included a close call with Cholestasis of pregnancy which can cause your baby to die. Because of this they decided to get that baby girl out via C-Section.
Here is Ana’s favorite scripture and my favorite thing she said on the Podcast.
Raising children with the motivation that they will be used mighty for the Kingdom of God, just like Elizabeth with John the Baptist.
Anastacia
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
Raising Children in a changed world
Now that you have read, listen in to what it was like to have a baby during covid.
Our world has undoubtedly changed, and will continue too. The good news is God has given us a road map to help us navigate, His Word. History has seen so many wars and famines, the rise and fall of many empires, but God never changes. He is the same yesterday today and forever. This is why we can move through our generation with confidence that He will equip us to do all He has asked.
He has also given us each other to encourage and spur on! I hope this episode gives you hope and encouragement. If you also walked through pregnancy or delivery during the pandemic I hope it reminds you, you aren’t alone.
These ladies are so precious and their hearts for raising their babies and walking in God’s purposes just blesses me beyond!
